A practical website-budget guide

Running costs of an AI-built website in Armenia: domains, hosting and tools

The first website draft is ready, but the cost of generating it is not the whole budget. Before publishing or renewing another subscription, identify what you pay once, what recurs and what remains unknown. This guide helps you make your own calculation without inventing average Armenian market prices.

Against an imagined Yerevan view, a creator plans website expenses in a notebook beside a laptop. Synthetic illustration.

Make three lists: initial work, recurring services and maintenance charged when needed. For every line, record the price, currency, billing interval, renewal terms, included allowance and responsible person. An unknown amount is not zero. An AI-tool subscription does not automatically replace a domain, hosting or maintenance.

1. Define what must keep working

Describe the site in one sentence, such as “A personal portfolio with project images and an email address.” Separately list what it does not include: taking orders, user accounts or payments. This is our fictional planning example, not a real customer project. Comparing two “cheap” offers is difficult before the requirements are clear.

Name who will change text, check links and respond to a failure. Here, keeping a website running includes both service payments and content or technical work. If you are still building your first page, use the separate first-website guide. The output of this article is a cost worksheet.

2. Give domains, hosting and tools separate lines

A domain is the website name; hosting serves its content. They may come from one provider, but record them separately. MDN’s cost guide also distinguishes work and tool costs. We do not reuse its illustrative prices as Armenian tariffs.

For local context, Web.am lists both domain registration, including .AM and Armenian-script domains, and hosting. This establishes available service categories, not a provider recommendation or price comparison. Ask whether a domain is included, for how long, and whether the next payment is the same.

Give an AI editor or website-building tool a third line. Before stopping a subscription, establish whether the published site depends on it, whether you can obtain your files, and who controls the account. A tool and hosting may be bundled; avoid counting the same component twice.

3. Copy this blank budget worksheet

Copy the lines below into a spreadsheet or notebook. Use the same fields for each: service; needed or not; current offer link and checking date; amount and currency; tax included or unresolved; billing interval; renewal amount; usage allowance; next payment date; and responsible person. If another line includes the service, state that.

Write “to confirm” instead of an amount until you have an established offer. Mark something “not required” only after checking the requirement. For example, displaying an email address does not itself justify adding a message-delivery service as an existing mandatory payment. If the site must actually send messages, open a separate research line for that service.

  • Domain: initial registration / renewal / next payment — fill in.
  • Hosting: billing period / included usage / behaviour at the limit — fill in.
  • Website builder or AI tool: creation and editing needs / site dependency — fill in.
  • Additional services: for example form messages or storage, only if needed — fill in.
  • Content and assets: your work, licensed images and translation where needed — fill in.
  • Maintenance: who fixes a defect, with what scope and on what terms — fill in.
  • Unknown costs: a specific question, responsible person and checking date — fill in.

4. Separate the annual equivalent from payment dates

Choose one planning period, such as the next 12 months. Include an annual payment once within that period; multiply monthly payments by the months of use. If an AI tool is needed for two months, do not multiply its fee by 12 without a reason. First check that cancellation will not stop the site or remove an editing capability you need.

Entirely invented arithmetic example: a fictional domain costs 12 calculation units annually; hosting costs 2 units monthly for the whole year; an editing tool costs 3 units monthly for two months; one separate correction costs 8 units. The first-year total is 12 + 2 × 12 + 3 × 2 + 8 = 50 units. These are not drams, vendor prices or an account of the Armenian market.

That total is not yet a payment calendar. The annual amount may be due upfront, while a correction is paid for when performed. Record those dates. For the following year, do not mechanically copy an initial registration or one-off correction: recheck the renewal and work you expect to need.

5. Check the terms behind “free”

Ask whether your use is allowed, what data, visits or operations are included, and what happens at the limit. For example, GitHub Pages’ published limits prohibit using it as free hosting for an online business, e-commerce or a site primarily facilitating commercial transactions. Vercel’s Hobby documentation limits it to personal, non-commercial use.

These examples show why a plan’s permitted use belongs in the comparison. Read the current terms of your chosen service separately. Record what is bundled, what could become a separate charge and who must be informed before costs change. Low visitor numbers alone do not establish permitted use.

6. Compare currency and conditions consistently in Armenia

Compare offers over the same period, distinguishing the first payment from renewals. Record the quoted currency, tax statement, payment method and confirmation date. When planning an overseas-currency offer in drams, use the source applicable to your payment and record the conversion assumption separately. This article supplies neither an exchange rate nor a tax rate.

Keep a list of questions for the supplier: which maintenance work is included, how extra editing is charged, who controls the domain and how you can obtain your files. “Support included” does not establish that building another page is included. Do not conceal unresolved questions behind a lower total.

7. End with a decision about the next review

Separate three outputs: the confirmed total, questions still uncosted and the next actual payment. Do not label the budget final while an important service price is unknown. Keep offer links and checking dates so you can identify the basis of the calculation when something changes.

Before adding a form, storage or a paid tool, revisit the relevant line. This is a cost-planning method, not proof of website security or availability. Key takeaways

  • Record domains, hosting, tools and work separately.
  • Unknown is not zero; do not count a bundled component twice.
  • An annual total and the payment date are different information.
  • Check permitted use and allowances in the official free-plan terms.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an AI-built website cost to run in Armenia?

There is no single amount: requirements and the current selected terms determine it. Fill the worksheet with verified offers, including renewals and maintenance. This article gives no market average.

Does buying a domain include hosting?

That depends on the specific offer. Separate the items in your budget and mark any component included in the other package.

Can I cancel the AI tool after creating the site?

First check the site and editing dependencies, file-export terms and the effect of cancellation. There is no universal answer for every tool.

Is free hosting sufficient for a business?

Check commercial-use permission and limit behaviour as well as capacity. A free price alone does not establish suitability.
